Dear Chapter Administrators,
I wanted to let you know about two new opportunities that ACS Chapters can provide your Resident Members, Associate Fellows, and Young Fellows.
Spectacular Cases
The Resident and Associate Society (RAS) is now accepting submissions for their 2024 Spectacular Cases session, to be held at this year’s Clinical Congress in San Francisco. Each year, seven surgical trainees are invited to present a case with “spectacular significance” due to the multidisciplinary approach to how the case was managed. Similar to a “M & M” discussion, the cases are presented to a panel of experts, who engage the trainee in an interactive discussion. Submissions are solicited through an open call to all Resident Members and Associate Fellows, each member can submit one case.
This year, for the first time, ACS Chapters can submit a case from one of their members. At least one of this year’s seven spots will go to a case submitted by an ACS Chapter. This session is always popular (over 100 cases were submitted last year), so this new application pathway will most likely increase the odds of your member being selected.

Surgical Jeopardy
The annual Surgical Jeopardy competition at Clinical Congress provides a great opportunity for teams representing chapters and programs to test their surgical knowledge. Perennial host Mark Bowyer, MD, FACS, whose wit and knowledge have made the game a such fun, educational, and popular event every year, is looking to hand over the hosting duties after this year. The Resident and Associate Society and the Young Fellows Association are working together to identify Dr. Bowyer’s successor and are requesting the help of ACS Chapters. Do you have a member that would make a great host? Encourage them to apply using the link below!
